Does Parrot Interview work on Windows and macOS?

Yes — there is a native desktop app for Windows and macOS, plus web access. The desktop app captures system audio, your microphone and screenshots natively, with no browser extensions.

Can the AI hear my computer's audio?

Yes. Parrot captures your system audio and microphone natively and feeds them to the AI, so it can hear an interviewer, a meeting or a video with no extra setup or virtual audio software.

Will Parrot steal focus from my interview or meeting?

No. Parrot floats on top of your call without taking focus, so clicking or scrolling it will not pull you out of a full-screen meeting or minimise the window behind it. To message the AI yourself, press Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + Space to summon the Ask box — a small, movable window that stays hidden on screen shares — type your question and hit Enter, and it drops straight into the open assistant without ever disturbing your call. Screenshots and saved prompts inject into the assistant the same way.

How do I type or send a message to the AI?

Press Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + Space to summon the Ask box — a small floating window you can drag to move and resize. Type your message and hit Enter (Shift+Enter for a new line) and Parrot injects it into the open AI and sends it for you. Because Parrot never takes focus, your call or interview is never interrupted, and the Ask box is hidden on screen shares just like the main window.

Can interviewers see Parrot on a screen share or recording?

No. Both the main window and the Ask box you type in are excluded from screen capture, so they stay invisible when you share your screen or record on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and similar apps. Parrot also stays out of the taskbar and Alt+Tab.

Do I need an API key or a paid ChatGPT or Claude account?

No API keys. Parrot opens each AI's own website inside the app and you sign in with your existing ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek accounts — so you keep whatever plans you already have and there is nothing extra to configure.

Can I change the Ask box shortcut?

Yes. The Ask box hotkey defaults to Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + Space, and you can set your own combination — or reset to the default — from Settings in the desktop app.

Steps

1. Sign in to the desktop app

Open the desktop app and sign in with your Parrot Interview email and password to authorize the device.

2. Open an AI assistant

Pick ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek — or press Ctrl/Cmd + 1–4 — and it opens right inside the window, signed in with your own account.

3. Type with the Ask box

Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Space to summon the Ask box — a small floating, movable and resizable window — type your message and hit Enter. Parrot injects it into the open AI and sends it, without ever stealing focus, and the Ask box stays hidden on screen shares. The hotkey is configurable in Settings.

4. Screenshot into the assistant

Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + S to capture your screen and paste it straight into the open assistant.
